    Defender Bonnet Stay

    Defender BONNET stay.

I currently have the 'hinge' variety, which allows you to open the bonnet, push the hinge across and then holds up the bonnet.

I preferred the old 'stick' version I had on my previous ute.

To changeover i would need the 'stick part' as well as the clip to which it secures to the bonnet when not in use.

** Anyone know the relevant PART numbers ? ***

Does anyone know how much the kit might cot me?

Alternatively if anyone is interested in a 'swap' (Brisbane north area) let me know too.

    Cheers

I had issues with my scissor one so off I went to bunnings and bought a length of ali tube I think 20mm and a pack of u shaped spring clips (zennith brand, a bit rubbish but ok). Flattened out the top and drilled a hole to fit the existing pin, cut the tube to max lenght and attached the sping clip to the existing bracket that is welded to the bonnet frame. see pictures, if they appear as its my first atempt.
    Cheers

They do indeed appear. (well done).
looks like a much cheaper option than the $100 approx for the LR genuine bits and bobs.

I can't think that any alternative to the standard (or scissors) supportive stay would be appropriate when the spare is fitted to the bonnet (as my 2nd spare is).

I do not think any "stick" type of support would safely support the weight of the spare wheel
