Are 'tilt up rear forward seats okay on back of Defender

    Hiya

Am planning on bringing my Defender 90 out from UK to Melbourne later this year and wanted to check a couple of technical things.

It has got two Exmoor trim forward facing fold up seats in the back, great for the kids and can move them out of the way. Are there any Vic (or Australia) specific laws that will make these illegal?

Am also planning on buying a row of four angel eye fog lights to go on top of a light bar, will look fab, but again, no point if they are illegal in Oz.

As far as I know there are no specific laws against them, but they would require specific approval as 90s here did not have rear seats. The reason that they did not have rear seats may be a problem however, as I understand that rules regarding vehicle equipment may have caused problems if it was classified as a passenger carrying vehicle - the 110 does not have this problem because of its weight. If this is a problem it will depend on the year model of the vehicle.

Perhaps a direct query to the relevant state authority might be the best approach, although some state authorities are very hard to deal with.

Maybe someone else has better information, but I suspect you may be the first one with exactly this question!

Can't help with the seats sorry mate

But down in Tassie we are allowed a maximum of 4 roof lights, I imagine there are similar rules in Victoria. On the bullbar we're allowed 2 driving lights. But I have seen people with 3-4 on the bar

Your probably best off chatting to someone here

    VicRoads : VicRoads

I reckon there would be an email contact on there somewhere

Great looking 90 by the way
