    Question Puma Speedo Oscillation

Further to this thread by Inc, I have noticed a strangeness with my speedo on my recent trip down south. At 110km/h on the freeway the speedo needle just doesn't stay still. I thought I was imagining things, but the needle definitely wavers around + or - 2km/h. It's not a jiggle like you might expect from a cable connection, just a gentle oscillation; up, down, up, down about 1sec apart.

Now I'm pretty damn sure my speed is not constantly fluctuating (the GPS seems to stay more constant). I thought I'd post this in a separate thread to Inc's one as I would like to hear if any other PUMA owners have noticed their vehicles doing this. I only noticed it on the freeway as the speed is most constant there.

    Hi Solmanic
I've only done 1400km in my Puma (White 776888) and have not noticed any speedo oscillations. I'll keep a close watch and post if I do.
    Regards,

My one definitly stays still..... is it worth giving the connector on the speed sensor a squirt with some electrical cleaner??

Mine doesn't do this at all - but there again, it doesn't see 110km/h much (ever!) either.

As an aside to this wobbly speedo topic, the last tank of fuel on our trip took us from Kempsey to Brisbane and then the whole week around town. Total of 700km from the tank - put in 65 litres. That's 9.2l/100km which I think is pretty good for a lot of 110km/h driving. Normally the economy drops off over 100km/h.

And I have to say it again... damn the new Defender is good on the freeway!
