    defender makeover ooooh!

hi guys made a bit of a cosmetic change to the land rover with good purpose i am sure the side lights and indicators were quite useful in the 60's but with more cars on the road (er more idiots) i felt it prudent to wack on the NAS wipac side light and indicator alternatives at only 132 quid from Simmonites i felt a fair price.
Bulbs and plinths are included and as they are standard bulbs (globes) you can keep the old ones as spares.
on the 130 with original tub you just wack on the new ones to the rear, but as with all Defenders you need to cut the headlamp surround using a 41mm saw hole cutter, making pilot holes where you have marked the plinth to make the whole job easier, i purchased shorter screws to go into the plinths and as you are making new mounting holes for the plinths to be fixed retain the plastic body fixings.
If anyone in Perth wants to do this mod they can borrow the cutter from me if they wish.
Just got to get rid of the butchered bull-bar then it will look better.
    until bulkhead and paintjob yay!

That looks like a good upgrade to do, it certainly brings the sidelights up to date.

Now you just need to catch the little buggers who keep putting graffiti on your number plates

vindicated i believe dullbird ...just off the back of the brightness of the stop and tail the brightness should save the land rover are the brake lights on or what? question prior to a car wiping themselves out on your rear crossmember.
The indicators as bright as any modern car, the sidelights as good as some headlights, great investment i reckon, no wiring is the beauty.

    Exclamation

Thanks for posting this. I am importing a 130 crew cab from the UK and had wondered about replacing the dim little lights. There only about 20-25 130's here in the states so want to keep the mini van driving housewives from rear ending it.

That's an interesting bull-bar! Is it the original bumper with added bits, or a custom made bar? Looks like it has cut down your front entry angles quite a bit.
