Aircon and 12v socket not working

Out of the blue, the aircon and 12v cigarette lighter socket have stopped working in the Defender. They worked fine on Saturday, Sunday morning not at all.

They both usually only worked when the key was turned to on. I checked the 4 fuses, but they were all fine. A quick look behind the instrument panel revealed no obvious problem.

Any ideas? Also, shouldn't the 12v socket come on when the key is turned to accessories?

Not sure the 2 are related, but may be. As you have checked the fuses check the fusible links? Maybe relay.

Don“t want to state the obvious, but there are more fuses than those behind the gearstick.
There are the giant fuses in the enginebay near the heaterbox and then there are some more in the box under the passenger seat (a/c specific).

    G'day

I had the same thing happen and totally freaked because who would think that the aircon and cigarette lighter / 12 volt are linked. After checking all the fuses behind the gear stick I found one that had blown. My memories fading but I think it was fuse 19 ( 5 amp ) for the aircon.

Well, don't I feel like a Defender newbie! Sure enough, the fuse for the cigarette lighter socket was blown, and the aircon must have just needed a wiggle - both behind the gearstick.

I knew there must have been more fuses somewhere, but buggered if I knew where!

    Thanks guys.
