I understand what you're doing and I thought I might do that. I'll see what the new one is shaping up like, but have faith that LR might just do a really good thing
There is a chance they'll cock it up too but lets give them a chance!

Alas I'm not in the position to get a Puma before 2012 and freeze my beloved Tdi or even just trade up to a Puma. Getting dual batteries, aux tank, uhf, bull bar, tow bar etc for my Puma just to kit it out how my current car is would cost me how much? Nearly $70k? And I'd still be without vent flaps and a bonnet mount!

Nah, while I know exactly where Pat303 is coming from I don't have the coin to be a purist or sensible. When Landrover move on I have to follow. Ive said it before, I love Defenders but go nowhere a 2nd hand D4 with about 40000kms, a rugged set of tyres, and some floormats can't take me. If I have a the $ at the time a new Defender would be a treat regardless of the running gear. It'll be an auto too, shame on me.

Yeah... funny thing that. Our fender is a 2005. I always thought I would upgrade to whatever the last of the fenders was before the new shape.

However - like you say, with all the stuff we've added to it, and all the fettling that has been done over the years I kind of love it now more than I ever have.

I'm not sure I could justify the upgrade plus re-fitting all the bits we need.
