    Disco to 130

    G'day gents.

I've owned my 97 300TDi disco for about 9 years now, and the time for an upgrade has arrived.
I've decided on a 130 crew cab defender, but am still tossing up wether to go for a 300 or TD5. I'm more or less across the issues of the two motors themselves and believe I'd be happy with either but I'm curious to know how much else changed in Defenders when they went from the 300TDi to the TD5.
I'm fairly familiar with the changes in the Discos, the different body (obviously) front drive shafts, hill decent etc but have no idea what else changed in the Defenders.

    Can anyone help me out?

    Cheers
    Cameron

I went from 200 TDi to TD5 so there are gearbox differences relevant to me but not you. TD5 is better performing engine

    From memory 2002 TD5 110 has

    electronic traction control/ ABS
    Front Electric Windows
    Change in dash (@2002)
After mid '02 lost the rear salisbury diff to rover type
    larger uni joints
    worse fuel economy 10.5 l/100k
You lose under the drivers seat box to the ecu/ecm etc.

They're the major differences but someone will add to it.

    Cheers

Basically they are the same ute.

Td5 is a bit quieter too, not a lot, but goes from ludicrously loud to bloody loud.....
