vinyl, and a hair dryer or more likely heat gun will assist in their removal
I prefer the look without stripes but the bloke that bought my Dad's County spent heaps getting stripes put back on!
heya - im lookin at a 97' defender - it has the speed stripe up the side of it.
are these painted on or just vinyl decals?
...would it be a crime to remove them??
thanks,
mongo

Standard decals were just stickers. It's your car, remove them if you wish but be prepared for a slight colour difference as the surrounding paint will have 13 more years of sunlight exposure.

I just took my decals off on the weekend. Was not hard and I did not worry about heat. Just used a stanley knife blade to get started at corners and at the odd hard spot and peeled carefully. Cleaned up residual glue with metho. Tried a bit of polish in a few spots and I reckon the new shiny bit will blend in no probs.
I actually like it better with the decals - without it looks a bit bland IMHO.
Some seller has had new decals advertised on eBay, but I'm certain I'm not interested at $180!
I had an accident repair last year and the panel beater supplied some, so one side looks new and the other side looks 11 years old.
Jeff

After some accident repair mine were applied crooked and incomplete!! I also don't need to depart with $180 for new ones. It still goes as it is.
