doh! the question is why does a defender not have a flex joint on the exhaust and the disco does, I have heard rumours that they dont last? surely they stop alot of vibation??? is it worth while putting one in on a defender 130?
    Help always appreciated.
    Cheers

its a 300 tdi and it was not standard on all 130's. Im just trying to work out if its worth having one put in?

Look at it this way, a flex coupling may only last 120 000km but if it keeps the noise down its probably worth it. I'm just working on a D1 300TDI with 134 000km and the flex is falling apart, but its beautifully smooth...

No flex joint on my 300 tdi...

I am running a 2 & 1/2" pipe straight through using the existing rubber mounts.

    So far no problems.

I have noticed that my 300 Tdi is very stable at idle.

Are you engine & gearbox mounts ok?

    Cheers

thanks for the replies, all mounts in very good condition, its just that its such a long exhaust pipe I would have thought they were standard, might just put one in any how and see how it runs.
    Thanks
