Pretty sure we get the 52 cents + 8 cents from AGL, our system makes approx. $3k per year which helps so our bills now are no more than $300 per year.

So many different plans between the various states and the time frames these things were set up...

AGL nicely pay me 68c on everything I export, then I pay for what I import. at night. ( At off peak rates )

I'll be in for a terrible shock when I eventually sell this place and have to start paying for power again.

Obviously I don't know the rules up there Vlad... but it does sound like you are getting ripped..

It all depends when you got in. We got in late so get bugger all. If you had a contract then they would be in breach and you would have a case.
What I think is wrong is we put extra into the grid and get paid 8c. At night we buy it back at normal rates which is garbage. I would rather get credited the power to use at night and is how it should be.

My latest quarterly bill received this week was $32 credit. We have used the full ducted aircon quite a lot over summer.

My previous bill was $270 credit.

As mentioned above, if you are using more than you are generating then you won't get credited for solar you make.

If you're signed up for the 8c rebate, your best bet is to use everything you generate. Do the washing and any household electric stuff (vacuuming, etc) during the day. 8c is pathetic but entices people to use their own green energy and not coal/gas power.

For those on the 44.5c rebate, the best bet is to sell everything you generate and use tariff electricity at night (so do the chores once the sun goes down). That way you reap the rewards of your system. I'm in the 44.5c rebate and with a family and 5kW air con in the lounge room I'm yet to see a summer bill over $200 on my 1.5kW system (stay at home mum here too).

This applies to qlders, not sure of the going rates in other states.

    Cheers

Both our houses are with Origin Energy.
The city house is still on the 40c/kW hour rebate which Campbell was unable to kill off.
The country house which we bought recently we were only able to get 4c for from Origin.
Suggest you ring several power companies and see which one is offering the best deal.

Now the electricity company tells me the gov't got rid of it last July ? News to me.

Anyway looking on the interwebs it seems that many electricity companies now pay the tariff instead of the government. But QENERGY doesn't.

This effectively means I am generating power for THEM for FREE and getting nothing in return, not even lower prices.

Should the company not have advised me / contacted me at the time to advise the changes?

Anyone got any advice or suggestions for the best energy companies (by best I mean "least bad") ?

    Thanks.
its what I do im a solar installer and service tech for solar if you live in energex area goldcoast bris and sunshine coast to the Toowoomba range then you have completion between electrical retailers quite a few of them I believe origin is offering 15c feed in the ones here with bigger feed in rate are signed up before july 2012 and fitted b4 july 2013 and on a contract unless they sell or change name on electricity account or change inverter to a bigger one so shop around amongst your energy retailer agl origin dodo energex ect get the best price play them against each other oh and as of july 2014 gov. abolished tariff feed in rate and left it to free marked however in the ergon area rest of qld will get feed in currently 6 cents oh and by the way at the end of 2014 government canning stc which will increase solar by 4000 dollars for 5kw if any one want to get in while stc still exist call me MKE 0449092868 I can help
