They run as 18v through a redarc bcdc unit positioned next to the batteries.

for self sufficiency you need a ratio of 5 - 3. (say 500watts to 300amps) in any sizing you like. who cares about cloud?

25 Amps I believe. I'm thinking of adding another 300W panel to the set up and if that doesn't work there's always a generator.

Lots of advice not to buy a cheap Mppt controller.
Any advise or recommendations on a good make and model?

25 amps would be the rated current output. I was asking about the minimum input voltage to run your charger.

I had to go look it up.

I can't paste the table but it has

Input Open Circuit All Models Low Voltage Conditions
    Solar all models
    Turn On 17.5V
    Turn Off 17.2V

    Input Loaded Low Voltage Conditions

Turn OFF instantly below 8V - All including solar.
Turn OFF after 20 secs below -N/A for solar

    Hopefully this makes sense
