Thread: Charging an EV from rooftop solar

Clearly some pensioners are so poor that they need to give up cars entirely and shift to electric transport to survive, firstly an e-bike then a Gopher. One bloke I knew was still riding his e-bike at 93 because he could ride it up to the door of the premises he needed to visit, cars and public transport were a poor second choice for this sort of task.

As for buying an electric car, of course the right thing to do is wait a few years, then buy a second hand one. At the rate that electric cars are advancing I'd expect a modest range vehicle should be available second hand within 5 years of them hitting the market at a price that won't frighten the most timid old fogey.

EVs will go first to urban 'early adopters', I assume. Plenty of people pay $50k for a new car.
There are already used EVs for sale on carsales.com, such as those from Nissan, Mitsubishi and BMW. $30k would buy a quite serviceable one for pottering about. A Mitsubishi EV left me in its dust near the Gold Coast recently. There are also plenty of hybrids from Toyota and Mitsubishi around.

Have to pay Full price for Registration , Full Comp insurance , Private Health funds , No free public transport either . Its not easy beating off the taxman either . Go easy FFS !

I just looked on carsales and $20-23K will pick you up a reasonable Leaf.

One can still purchase Dripping? I wish you could still buy good Beef Dripping with all the meaty bits in it.

My BIL the vet reckons some dog kibble is highly nutritious and people could easily live on it, if they wanted too.

I suspect we already do except they are called 'Energy Snack Bars'. It's probably the pong that would put us off but a drop of honey in the mix probably would fix that.
