But you're really wrong about EV fires. Your ICE car is far far more likely to catch fire in a crash. Or anywhere. ICE fires are between 20 and 80 times more likely than EV's. By far the biggest risk to an EV owner in regards to crash fires is ICE cars involved in the collision catching fire.

Who cares about milage. its age, the cells degrade. I've never own anything with a lithium battery that has been much use once it hits 5 -> 8 years old. the battery is either competely dead, or so low in capacity its useless.

What is your point? You were trying to insinuate my daughter is unsafe in a peugoet 407 because it isn't a new electric throw-away. Which is utter rubbish, just like everything else the ev fanatics claim.

I never said it was lies. we need to get rid of the ANCAP, they are just implementing crap we don't need these days. Cars are now global, if they have passed European or American safety tests, they are fine to sell in Australia. I never said this was EV specific, you were trying to say a car made in 2007 is unsafe, which is just stupid.

My son just bought an BYD Sealion 7 because of the discount he got , the fact that no logbook need be kept and he is fitting 40KW of panels on his roof and 40KWH of batteries. It is for his wife. It will be interesting to see how it works out. I would be interested in a Tesla Model 3 as they now approach 20K but my wife who is the main user will not have a bar of it. As she says " I don't want to be scratching around Nelson Bay for a charger when I go for golf"

Can we kill this thread sometime soon. The market has spoken and EVs are currently going nowhere in the car market. However it looks like Hybrids are the flavour of the month even when or maybe because Toyota does not use Lithium batteries. LOL

Appreciate it would be nicer to see a Landrover win yet suspect VW may hold them for its own for a while until all the other huge plants come on stream.

If Land Rover pursue this course as their primary market, they’ll go under in ~5 years.

Only places like Paris and London will pick them up as prestigious yuppy trucks that meet the Clean Air Zones.

Apparently the yummy mummies are now buying Jacoo whatevers for school runs in preference to RRs, even without any parts backup.
They will find out you get what you pay for.

You're right, most people over the age of about 25 are not going to have a " come to Jesus" moment that cake is baked. Which is why I don't bother evangelising too much. I do however, have to correct misinformation, so an EV is not a car with an invisible tailpipe which goes to a coal or gas fired power station emitting the same pollution as would a diesel or petrol engine. This is why base load power is generated by steam turbines and not internal combustion engines, unless somewhere remote like a mine or an island. Steam is much more efficient and therefore less polluting. Euro 6 doesn't not capture carbon, quite the opposite actually every molecule of carbon combines with two molecules of oxygen creating CO2, not so much a polluting gas as a greenhouse gas.

Even the most rabid greenies are not running around saying the rocks aren't decomposing, yet people are worried about wind turbines, solar panels, etc. but are also unconcerned about how their clothes, shoes, houses even are going to be recycled.

Asbestos is not approved for use in wind turbines nor Australia.

Quite correct, but it now has been found in the service lifts (I assume brakes). The question is; Is it anywhere else? like the braking system for the blades?

Irrespective of whether people think EVs are good or bad, the actions of some EV drivers is questionable.

I regularly go to Ikea and my local Woolworths - both car parks have charging bays for EVs. After many visits to these carparks I have yet to see a EV charging though the spots are filled with EVs - usually Tesla parking but not charging.

Again the same this morning at the Woolies car park, all ev charging spots filled with Teslas and not one charging. A bit like an ICE using the local servo and its fuel pump spots being used as parking spots while doing the shopping at a nearby super market.

This does the EV cause no good, as even ICE drivers notice it - I dont park in the EV charging spots and neither should EV drivers not charging.

Nah. I like to pop in to do some poking, and it's good for a laugh. I agree with your wife though. I KNOW I can get fuel for my car at a dozen places within 10k of here, and I ain't in the city.

I said on here about three or for years ago that EVs were a cul-de-sac, and it seems to be the case. Tell me, are EVs still piling up at the wharf in Zeebrugge, Antwerp and Bremerhaven, amongst others? Europe is awash with the things that they can't sell.

Just look away, Philip. It will die a natural death when DC and CR get bored with squabbling.
