2 or 3 people out of hundreds on the forum evangelizing about EVs versus hundreds not. Maybe 90% "don't give a damn Scarlet" while the remaining percentage see EVs as a failure in common sense, seeing that they are powered say 70% by coal anyway. True they shift pollution from cities to the power stations which are generally in the country. I would like to see how many people in Australia have ever been even affected by Euro6 Diesel pollution or modern ICE engine pollution. Real scientific measurements not "estimates". So the pollution from power stations will be replaced by micro fibreglass and asbestos from wind turbines and then disposal problems when the turbines and solar panels need replacement.
I am now pretty much accepting of EVs if they match your lifestyle which unfortunately does not match the lifestyle of many of us. My son just bought an BYD Sealion 7 because of the discount he got , the fact that no logbook need be kept and he is fitting 40KW of panels on his roof and 40KWH of batteries. It is for his wife. It will be interesting to see how it works out. I would be interested in a Tesla Model 3 as they now approach 20K but my wife who is the main user will not have a bar of it. As she says " I don't want to be scratching around Nelson Bay for a charger when I go for golf"
Can we kill this thread sometime soon. The market has spoken and EVs are currently going nowhere in the car market. However it looks like Hybrids are the flavour of the month even when or maybe because Toyota does not use Lithium batteries. LOL
