My understanding is that several smaller brands subcontract parts supply to Caterpillar Logistics, now known as Neovia Logistics. I recall reading that Ford use them.
From their reported performance it would seem that the Chinese brands do not.
It used to be that Mercedes Benz would supply parts from Germany for any model regardless of age, however the price went up each year. I recall a Friend with a circa 1967 250SL "Pagoda Roof " broke a grille centrepiece (cast zinc) and was able to get a new one even after 20 plus years but for about $2000 which was a lot in about 1990.

BTW I saw a Tesla using the new induction charging method today at the shopping centre car park chargers. It must have been that because there was no wire connection. it is becoming common with other brands also.

I have it on good authority that the Air Force is not allowing charging of civilian Chinese EVs on bases and that there is a strong possibility they will be banned from coming on base shortly.

Re charging none of the TEslas sold in Aus have this. maybe someone fitted a kit to them or something.

    Re the military.. no surprise

    Tit for Tat!

The Chinese military has banned Tesla cars from entering its complexes, citing security concerns over cameras installed on the vehicles, two people who have seen notices of the directive told Reuters.

Cat have built their brand on speed and availability of parts.

Should I ever consider buying an EV, the fact that charging spots are better sited, at many venues, than disabled parking spaces, would be the greatest influence.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Lol. That did cross my mind but I don't know in this thread sometimes.

The traditional way is to hate them on FB in an EV group.

It actually annoys me. If the EV charging is rockstar charging - IE right outside the front door or otherwise super convenient then it encourages bad behaviour. It's stupid.. they should put EV charging to the back of the parking lot.

EV's are no different to any other field of human endeavour. I don't know what the percentage is - but most of them will do the right thing but there is always a proportion who will do whatever they want without consideration.

At the ikea near me - there are EV chargers right at the door. Last time I was there probably 50% of the EV's there were just parked.

It is an offence I think in most states. But whether it's enforced or not I doubt.

In some of the tesla groups.. if you see a tesla at a tesla supercharger not charging you can just plug them in. the little button on a tesla chager will open the flap so if you plug them in and they don't come back they may well get idle fees. You might turn up on Sentry so give them a wave!

Yes, but you need to apply common sense. Where are the resources (ie: high wattage power connections).... If you say "the big commercial store".... You get a star. Now guess where you are going to put the charger so the extreme expense of installing one is slightly reduced and you don't have to dig up half your carpark. Its like all common sense is removed as soon as you talk EVs. Which is quite sad.
