Exactly .... Its just awesome isn't it ... I probably would have bought it too ... Just 'cos its so ridiculous
Add him to your watchlist on youtube. He's about to help get an EV1 on the road, which should be really interesting!
Have you got the idea yet i really like cars? pretty much all carsI just don't like people screaming stupidity at me (ie: EV's will save the world
). The EV1 video should be really intersting. How will they get the electronics on that working. It sounds like they deliberaly fried the computers on them so they couldnt be made functional.

I went into a BYD dealer saturday to look at their new Atto2 and atto1 for curiosity sake. I honestly think all the existing car makers are in very very big trouble.
While I think the Teslas are still clearly best in class - BYD is covering all the classes. Plus I think someone has suggested that they don't do weird stuff. The Atto 2.. you could have easily have been sitting in a Toyota or a Subaru. You could say bland - but not polarising like the Atto 3. The Hyundai inster I looked at last week stunk of cost cutting - and it was significantly more expensive than the bigger and much better finished atto2.

My last reply crashed.
Nothing has changed. Car makers have so much inertia making ICE cars they don't want to make EV's and they don't want us to like EV's. They just want to make ICE cars for which they have got the whole thing dialled, and which has over the years made them very wealthy.
Meanwhile, the Chinese are smart enough to not even try to compete with them. Instead they are building the best EV's they can because that's where they have a competitive advantage. They are holding a gun to the legacy makers heads.
I can see a situation in the medium term where legacy are beaten out of most segments at gun point, and are huddled trying to survive in things like high margin 4x4 that don't suit electrification as well as some other segments. Even then they are going to be being chased like a scene from Jurassic Park by the Chinese. Many of them will go broke and merge etc.
I'm not necessarily saying this makes me happy - but I think that's how it's going to play out. I think now the greatest hope for legacy is that Ji decides to invade taiwan and they have 20 foot high barb wire tradewalls erected around european and american markets. That would buy them some time.
My advice - if there is an ICE car you want to buy. Don't leave it too long. ICE will go the way of the manual transmission.

Not suer I agree with Teslas being best in class. IF BYD delivers on that 1000kWh charger network in Australia the Games changing Immediately?
Also so-called Tesla supercharger (???) network that charges $$ a premium over most other currently FASTER chargers. The many Tesla drivers I find charging at the non Tesla fast chargers speak volumes on that perhaps? I wonder if that's worth a trillion $ bonus?
I would have looked at the new ute yet ruling it out with the old 400 volt architecture which is surprising I thought. Appreciate it may be a low price for the yesterday tech. The KGM EV ute Australia release date is 1 December.

Car makers won't care, they just want to build what sells (ie: what will make them money). So obviously they don't want to buildl electric throw-aways that the majority don't want.
They'll crash and burn most of the chinese manufacturers, the world ev market is in saturation, anyone that wanted an electric throw-away already has one. The people having them forced on them and showing the goverments the middle finger. As soon as the government freebies in china dry up ... all these EV manufacturers will go out of business.
Meanwhile, the Chinese are smart enough to not even try to compete with them. Instead they are building the best EV's they can because that's where they have a competitive advantage. They are holding a gun to the legacy makers heads.
I agree, who wants a crappy 4wd ev .... the normal ones are crap enough. The ICE vehicles are only having issues because of goverment intervention. What choice do they have? Build crap cars no-one wants .... or build the cars people want but goverments are refusing to let them sell. Insanity right? I would NEVER buy an electric throw-away no matter how mcuh the government tries to force me. We'd riot in the street before we allow utter stupidity to be forced upon us.

No, you are wrong. The people all over the world will toss the ****ty crappy goverments out trying to force this crap on us. Have you seen what has happened in america by chance? This will happen everywhere else. Even blind freddie can see that.I'm not necessarily saying this makes me happy - but I think that's how it's going to play out. I think now the greatest hope for legacy is that Ji decides to invade taiwan and they have 20 foot high barb wire tradewalls erected around european and american markets. the same thing will happen all over the world with net zero too. its just how far bankrupt he governments manage to make there countries before the riots in the streets start, and they all get booted out of office.
Have you met people? Why do you think we will allow utter stupidity to be forced on us? The answer is we won't things will suddenly hit a wall where everyone will rebel ... with violence if needed. You want desperate, just see how desperate and dangerous people that cant' afford transport and food will be.
It will probably be pauline hanson that brings on the chance in australia. as suddenly everyone will vote for her as there is no other sensible option. Do you want labour, or labour light?

Tesla are still currently outselling all the other competitive EV's despite being expensive. They are still best in class but I'm not saying it's a big margin or that the chinese won't catch.
But if you want a medium/large EV they are still on top. For the moment. There are a heap of incoming cars that might change this.
