Let people just do what they want, an EV would NEVER do the job of those vehicles.
If you have ever seen the line of country vehicles,at a private boarding school, dropping off students at the beginning of the term, either here or in Toowoomba, the line of D/C utes and Land Cruisers is amazing.

Even if you don't use the 4wd, the roads are so bad in regional victoria, either a 4wd, or a pretend jacked up hatchback trying to look like a 4wd is the only choice. The electric throw-aways and modern cars have ridiculous wheels and tires that simply are not adequate for normal use outside of a big city with perfect roads.
We have quite a few farmers at one of the martial arts clubs I help to run 20minutes outside ballarat. The parents mostly drive 4wds. the "awd" type passenger cars (eg: rav 4) type vehicles are there "cheap" road cars that aren't used for towing.... but no doubt still used for farm work when needed.
As soon as you come into town twin cab utes, sure there is plenty around, but I'd be guessing 10% of the traffic. So unless you look for them they aren't really very obvious (a bit like electric throw-aways).
An electric car to anyone like these people would be utterly useless. no ground clearance, no spare tires, no range, crappy wheels ... useless in every way for the tasks they require.
They are simply a city toy for poeple that either like toys ( I love messing around with toys), and those that are trying to prove something to there neighbours. (this is probably why I'd never own one, I couldn't give a crap what anyone else thinks of me. Certainly I could never "pretend" that I'm trying to save the planet or any such nonsense).
