    That supposedly "green bus" technology

This is not "Alternate Energy" per se but an effort to make diesel buses "greener" and just blindly throwing money at it without it being sufficiently understood. I wonder if the failure and cost of this initiative will get as much coverage as the initial launch of the scheme. I am sure if it had been a private company spending this on untried technology someone would be out of a job.
This sentence caught my attention "Where do they test these things?"

    Also, as an add on
Over here a big fuss with lots of fanfare heralded the purchase of a fleet of electric buses which cost around €500,000 each. Lots of photo shoots included our minister for transport who is also leader of the Green party. Anyway the buses have been sitting for about a year. Seems for charging new electricity substations need to be built at depots to handle the buses and there are planning issues to over come. A lot of public money was spent on these buses but their introduction and utilisation does not seem to have been considered before purchase.

Pretty typical here as well,if the Govt gets involved in anything,it generally ends up in a great big expensive mess.

Sure one mob prides itself in making more of a mess than the other, but that is a thread for elsewhere.

Sounds like a shocker. Poor planning and implementation and the current battery technology and trying to rush things is not a winner!

A last years story here might be interesting Electric buses to be rolled out in Queensland as Australian-first bus depot opens on Gold Coast - ABC News

"It comes as 30 new electric buses will be hitting Queensland's roads from next month, with a local company heading up one-third of the construction." Posted Wed 13 Apr 2022

QLD gov information Seem to being made by News - BusTech Group "Kinetic is Australasia’s largest owner and operator of battery electric buses (BE with its current fleet expected to grow to 300 by the end of 2023. Kinetic’s ambition is to reach 100 per cent net zero emissions by 2035. "

Have not seen or heard much about them? Video of a EV bus on "Brisbane CityGlider bus services"

Suggested Electric yet no data? Website of Kinetic suggests to me its all Gouvernement Taxpayers funding these at several places in cities over Australia and our nice locals (NZ) ! Zero Emissions — Kinetic

At least they seem to be covering some aspects of Charging! One QLD site has a far bit of Solar. My thought are that most charging will be in the Dark overnight so this is a bit of Greenwashing?

“This year alone we’ll be introducing 20 zero emission buses to Queensland roads across Cairns, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast,” Mr Sewards said."

I did read after morning peak and until afternoon peak hours many buses are idle.

One of the site videos shows a CCS chargers connected to a bus - that can be fairly quick. Did you see the cars/buses drowned in South Korea Floods in an Underpass (RIP people killed) At least one of the buses trying to pretend to be a submarine was Electric. Tragic so not laughing at all about the deaths!

    Try the Green trains?

"Germany’s state-owned, $85 million hydrogen fuel-cell powered train system is shuttering almost exactly one year after its first public debute in August 2022. This doesn’t mean that the railways are reverting back to pollutant-spewing diesel engines, however. According to the country’s Ministry for Economic Affairs, Transport, Building and Digitisation, the lines will transition to electric battery-driven systems that are simply “cheaper to operate.”
As Quartz noted on Monday, Germany’s LVNG railway company first started planning diesel train phaseways all the way back in 2012, and began testing hydrogen fuel-cell trains in 2018. For years, the transition process in the Lower Saxony region was plagued by delays and logistical issues, such as retrofitting existing trains with the proper hardware and software."

Not saying its dead tech. I have sold most of my hydrogen fuel cell stuff as over blown and not kicking goals I set for them.

Noting not dead as "It’s unclear if or how Germany’s shift in railway plans could affect the many other hydrogen fuel-cell train projects across the world. Last year, for example, California approved over two dozen hydrogen trains, while Italy earmarked €300 million ($330 million) to convert many of its diesel trains to hydrogen power."

Still liking a WA hydrogen producer.
