Your not alone,i had an LR dealer try to do this about 12yrs ago to a D2.

Some survey people rang up for my opinion of the dealership, and i think they got the biggest rant they had ever had.I even got an immediate apology from the dealer.

    Still haven't been back......!

Soooo, would it be fair to say this car you loved, that drove so well, with such refinement, and engineering greatness wasn't a lemon, it just fell apart from poor build quality by robots.

I have a mate who bought a new Golf GT, he loved it until the gear box exploded in the first 6 months. Under warranty it took 3 months to be replaced. Accompanied with a lot of procrastinating, little information offered, and a bit of deceit from the dealer.
LR may not be he greatest at put together a Defender, with the poms day dreaming about what they do. But I can't fault the company on warranty and service. I've had everyone of my issues rectified without a question. Kind of makes the Defender miles in front don't you think.

Jason, I've had my small issues rectified with VW as well, been great to deal with. May be clarkies issues are the dealer he has dealt with are crap. The cause of his timing belt issue was due to not enough protection of the belt, VW are sorting this out. Its amazing how you only here the bad about things and not the good. I will more than likely be purchasing another next year.

i think i read on the other forum that VW offered to buy the car back from him for 18k.

given that the car is 2 years old, i think thats disgusting.

Sounds like something Land Rover has been living with for many many many many years... Its the first question I get asked... your game owning a Land Rover, usually from people who have never even been in one.

I'd park it out the front of the dealership with a large sign...

Think I'd be having a chat to Consumer Affairs . Product not fit for purpose . Fix or replace. I can also remember something about there being a " Lemon Law".

Or the media ie A Current Affairs.
