    MoveLater2 HE BOUGHT A JEEP

my neighbour just bought a nice new red shiny Grand Cherokee Laredo V6 diesel.

rather nice to look at and sit in.

he brought it home yesterday and had driveline vibrations on the way home.

he's gone back to his fi/fo workplace today

soooo , his 18yo son decides he'll take it for drive and not knowing others are watching absolutely canes this thing cold up the street.

It'll probably have more than driveline problems......

I'll get to drive it later and give my honest opinions.

btw , he was told if he takes it bush to remove the lower part of the grille first so it doesnt get torn off.

I've been passenger in one of the new ones, and while it's nice and comfy, with lots of buttons and pretty lights / dials on the dash, it's definately designed towards being a town car than an off-roader.

Dealer advice to remove the front grille before wheeling? That's a bold recommendation. Pretty much admitting defeat before you start!

yes, the neighbour doesn't even want to take it bush , but I might try and get him to drive it gently up a couple of tracks behind me.

only 6 screws said the dealer........

Most Laredo's only have coil spring suspension and stuff all ground clearance, the flasher models have adjustable gas suspension which has similar height adjustability to a D3/4 which makes them reasonable off road.

Considered buying one on a couple of occasions and while the air suspended ones are good to drive they basically have to many short comings to be compared to a D3/4.
    Cheers,
    Terry

Before i bought my D4 i was looking at the new GC to save some money as they are a lot cheaper than the D4 man am i glad i didn't get one!! I live in a small town with about 10000 people in the last 2 weeks I've seen 2 on the back of tow trucks!! Then a fella i work with drives a tow truck on his days off occasionally he has taken one back to the dealer 3 times with engine issues! My brother inlaw went to test drive one as he was looking for a new rig the same time as me and they went for a test drive and about 5 kms in he took over driving from the salesman and gave it a boot full to get on the road and it blew a coolant line and dropped its coolant!

I was also reading on car advice.com.au they had one as a long term test after a few months they had to give it back because it was just having to many issues electrically so I'm super glad i got my D4 instead of a Jeep haha!!

But i will admit they do look great a really nice looking car both inside and out plus loaded with lots of great features.

Glad you clarified but the other way your statement could be interpreted is still true as well

I saw one with dealer plates on it... stranded in the middle of an intersection.
From what I could tell, the people on the test drive had bailed, and the towies had taken up traffic redirection duties
