Well thinking long term with the isuzu and two of the problem areas are typically firewall and chassis. Would like to get hands on perentie chassis however pretty thin on ground. Therefore Marshal's in UK have readily available V8 110 Gal chassis. Freight is the hassle but rate is good at moment. Not looking to go down this road yet, but future options.

So is there any difference between V8 and Isuzu chassis, mounts etc. What's the legality of chassis swap.Is this a feasible option for another 25 years service.

Cheers
Paul

Same chassis with different engine mounts. I'm almost certain that gearbox mounts are the same too. I notice the 5 speed has removable brackets as the gearbox is set back further. I have a 1985 V8 chassis sitting around:angel:

ha mate I have a county that had a v8 fitted, I removed the 8 and put in a Isuzu, all you have to do is chop the mounts off and fabricate new ones up weld them on and get the mounts engineered, take time to get the alignment right but it was pretty easy.

Have a look at Rovercare's 120 extra cab. Now using a 130 chassis and fabricated the mounts to suit the Isuzu etc. He has mentioned getting it gal dipped.

Looking at the prices of the ex UK chassis, wouldn't it be cheaper to get a local V8 chassis, mod the engine mounts and then get it dipped?

It will be easier if the year of the chassis is no later than the year of the engine - year for chassis is in the VIN (stamped in chassis). Otherwise check with an engineer who can certify vehicle mods in your state before jumping ahead.

The V8 engine mounts on the chassis are different and further back than Isuzu. An alternative to removing and welding new engine mounts on the chassis is to fabricate new mounts to bolt onto the 4BD1.

My 4BD1T uses these type of mounts.

Any chance you have specs/drawings for those mounts?

Yes I do. I've posted pictures of them up here but don't have the time to dig them out right now.
Have a dig and see what you find.

I dug around a bit, spent the better half of the day reading some really good zuzu stuff, although not much on the engine side mounts. :( Perhaps I need to bone up on my digging skills. However, on another site I found a pdf with specs of the LH mount and a pic of the RH mount. The looked like your stuff.

That'll be them. AFAIK I'm the only one worldwide running such a setup.

I have drawings for the LH mount as I remade it a few years back. The RH mount I have modelled up in solidworks but no drawings.

Mount info here:

The drawing I did when I remade the LH mount a few years back:

A solidwoks pic of the RH mount. Those two round holes are to get a socket on the bolts holding the mount to the block.
