It is always interesting to find a name usualy under a few layers of paint.
I was cleaning the 80"guards " I just can't call them wings".
Sometimes you will find 1 or even 2 other names underneath.
The name underneath looks like it was from the old wool bail stencil in black.

Mendooran is on the road between Gilgandra and Dunedoo, perhaps if you contact the Post Office you may find out if the property still exists and is still in the same family.

You may find all sorts of information.

Tote. A good possibility, the second letter is strange looks like a N with the end bit missing. You are closer than i thought it was. The guards are actualy 86 guards that were fitted to a 80". Looks like you are in the running for the cigar.......Mark

And 26661042 - Build No 17717.
Engine No26110096 - Gearbox No 26110095.
some one may have the one in between.
they came from far apart.
If i ask Bobslandies nicely he may find out their starting point.
I will dig out the other No's so we know where they went. Mark

groucho - I just love this thread - finding this stuff when doing a resto really adds a special dimension for me. All the old badges etc, isn't it brilliant? Just spent the day working on mine - in between taking little trips over the Har's paddock to perv on Zulu's 80 inch Sweetpea.

Looking forward to seeing this vehicle when you've finished. :BigThumb:

Scallops mate. You people are lucky your Land rovers came on wheels.
Mine the one i chose to do came 300 K's in a ute.A basket case no doubt. So i have to start from scratch. Yes you can carry 80" in a falcon ute.
No easy fix. ahh well.......Mark

The front diff was good except the front pinion was wedged down in the diff.
No piccy as it probably still in orbit over the back fence. bearing cup cracked and tracta joint showed some minor scuffing. minor job..........

Thank you for your offer. I have a few excellent sets to use.
The only thing i am having trouble with is stopping my hand shaking
writing out the cheque for the wiring harness (should have done it 5 years ago) A bit of time and iclination would also be a bonus.....Mark

Thats most probably it then, You get a cigar also......
The 80" came from far away from there as they were 86" guards it just goes to show how parts get dispersed far and wide........
