I'm thinking of purchasing a series two or three SWB hard top and converting it to fit the rear of my 2010 Puma dual cab. Can someone who might have one, measure the width from the outside to outside and also the in side? The distance from the rear to the slope on the roof would be handy as well. Err, the height as well?
Thanks in anticipation....

PBop,

Have you had a look at the likes of Rovacraft or other importers of Landie body panels to bring some 90 Hardtop sides over for you? In the UK they obviously sell Puma 90s in Hardtop and Pickup versions, so Britpart will have nice new straight ones available.

Cheers!

Thanks Loubrey, might check that out as well. I can get a fibreglass canopy altered but $3,450.00:( so I thought that the tops I am looking at may work. Of course, it will need to be brought back to basically bare metal and sprayed or powdercoated the same as the car(Stornaway Grey), as I would want it to look like it should be on there. The good thing is that the back canopy door will line up - this is important for me as I have fitted a rear wheel carrier and the full width rear door on a fibreglass canopy won't open properly. I have done some homework!
The whole excersise is to be able to lock way the rear tub, which I cannot do with the canvas back. I also considered a boot lid, but the new idea gives much more space in the back. :)

If you should go for the 90 HT sides it will painted with the correct prime as well, so going grey will easy enough.:D

My 109 is-1535w at base(tub 1545)-1470w at gutter-740 high(20mm rib)-door opening 900
What about meshing the existing frame or building one to make it secure
I'm looking at building a mesh cage with canvas for my 110 c/chassis and reckon I'll do it for about $1500

Many thanks BCJ.
Re the meshing - yes I may do that and had worked on this, however dust with the canvas back is an issue when touring the red country.
Thanks again for the measurements.

A 90 hardtop would cost a huge amount of money! :o
By comparison, if one off a 2/2A/3 fits, you can pick them up for nix.

i've just remembered where i have seen such a canopy, I don't know if you read mags like landrover owner international, but sometimes in these mags you see pics of 110s, and 90s with canopys fitted, neneoverland is another place to look for pics, looking at some of the pommy stuff may give you some ideas.
maybe you could get the frame from the current canvas canopy sheeted with aluminium and then sealed along the top of the tub with a quality foam rubber.
well just some ideas i thought of .

cheers

Yeh, the 90 angle might be a bit heavy on the wallet. I looked at what would be required and Shonky is right - probably cost prohibative!

This British one looks the mutts nuts Land Rover Defender Pick Up Canopy - Wolf Canopy - 90, 110, 130 (http://www.wolfcanopy.com/). Might have an Aussie disdributor?

They do look nice! B)
I think a series SWB cab cut down and painted up will look great if done properly. I almost wish I had a 110 D/C just so I could have a crack at it. :p

If I remember rightly (and I do, I just checked it in the parts book) the side panels from the 88 and 109 station wagon are the same. This means that the 88 hardtop (sides) will extend from the rear door on your dual cab to the back of the tray. Hence could be shortened to cover just the tray. You would have to make a front for it and shorten the roof - question would be to use the sloping bit or not.
