Air hose and fittings

The air hose on my compressor **** itself, so I need a new one.

The one I had was similar to this:

Though yellow and relatively thin walled.

I suspect that for something more hard-wearing I need this kind:

As far as the fitting which connects the hose to the tyre valve for infaltion, I want the type that has a little catch you depress by thumb, push over valve, release thumb and it then stays in place. Like this:

I am not sure what they are called but haven't seen any in the el cheapo shops at least.

So what i need to know is:

Where should I go to buy this sort of gear (super cheap were useless),
How many metres of tube should I get ? (I have a Defender)

Also does anyone know if there are ANY reliable in-line pressure guages for tyre inflation. The one I had read up to 10psi out. I;d love to be able to watch it rise to the desired pressure then just pull the hose off the valve - done! Possible or not ?

Something I did before buying my fittings was have a look at the service centre hoses near where I play.
No need to go inside and get the abused gauge when my fittings clip straight in:)
The guy behind me usualy thinks I've stolen the gauge as I leave though;)


I have my clip on chuck on a short(100mm) hose with a male connector(also deflates tyre if needed).
Hose length is best worked out from the compresor to your futherst tyre.
My compresor is under my L/H seat so the hose reaches all my tyres and a car parked close to the L/H side of me if needed.
I have a spare hose in the shed so I could extend the hose if I get a trailer(saves unhooking).
If you think about your conections you could clip it to the spare for a short burst of air if needed(air filter/Dust from any thing).

Another option is QLD trade tools - that's where I bought all my bits when in QLD - including a tyre chuck like you want.

We deal with Pirtek a fair bit, and find them very helpful...they have made quite a few custom bits for us as well. Also used Tony Powell Hose Supplies in the past.

Vlad I have yet to find a in-line style gauge that reads acurately at low pressures in particular. ARB make a competition style standalone one that only goes up to 50 psi with a supersized 100 mm diam gauge that works well.
