Hi,
I used the tirfor to roll a large log on the weekend.
Just for practice, it needed to be moved so it was a good excuse to see how it all worked.
I set it all up and was using a tree protector, yep, shackle this to the rear end of the tirfor.
Wrong!
Can't fit a shackle and the loops of the tree protector into the rear pin assembly on the tirfor.
I jury rigged a short length of hardware shop chain a couple of loops through the shackle and the rear of the winch as the load was not all that great.
But that will not do for a serious pull with a bogged 4wd.
My thinking is to get (say) 3 links of chain that will fit in the tirfor and I can shackle a tree protector and a return cable if using a 2:1 reduction as well.
What are others using? I would appreciate some input from those familiar with using the tirfor type winch and some comment on how this problem has been resolved.
cheers
