Guys,

I'm asking you in order to know if the Australian Market Reprog of the BECM that i do are a way to make the P38 more reliable.

Looks like you don't have any EKA code to do in case you remote do not work.

Please tell me!!

Cheers

Flo

yes in some situations the Aus spec program with no is EKA is a prblem. if it was locked with the remote it can only be unlocked with a remote (so i reprogram them to have an EKA). on the very early models we had a self relock feature aswell, if you unlock the car and do not cycle the ignition the car will relock by itself, this is very annoying when you have left the key on the dash will you are working on the car.
i have seen other programs that have more user friendly arming and disarming. landrover programed a becm as a test unit that could be locked with the remote and unlocked with a door key, when i looked at the actual coding data every one of the 40 lines was different. there was also an after marked company who used to reprogram them differently here in Sydney but i think they have gone now.

Hi Rupert,
May you tell me how you can program back EKA? How do you know the code then?
Regards

Florent

hi Florent
when the Becm is new or cleared or just unlocked it can the have the programing changed. if you have a suitable scanner you can enable the EKA and it will ask you to pick a 4 digit number.

My early '95 model has no EKA. I can unlock it with a plain key even if locked with the remote.

Providing I open a door or the tailgate, the car doesn't relock.

hi Ron B
i`m working at getting mine to work like that.
the only time mine did that was when the remote was faulty and not fully resynchronised.
do you know much of your cars history?

Rupert

No matter what the condition the BECM is it can have the settings reprogrammed with a Testbook.

I do market changes (Australia very often) and i select EKA passive to finish the job.

Programmation of new accessories (cruise control, foglights, trip computer, electric seats). Yes there are some people that update their low line P38s here with luxury items from DSE (2.5 diesel high line) and HSE's

if it was locked with the remote it can only be unlocked with a remote

If you have EKA set or EKA disabled without selecting EKA passive:
If it was locked with the remote it can be unlocked with :
-remote
or
-key with EKA

If you disable EKA and select EKA passive:
If it was locked with the remote it can be unlocked with :
-remote
or
-key only without EKA
