As some of you know reading back your TD5 ecu will be stoped with the nanocom and the file wont be saved.

Ive rewriten some of the firmware to stop this process happening and help you all save your files.

Ive added the needed firmware upgrages to my Dropbox file share folder.
If you dont have Dropbox or have not herd of it then follow the link, register, download and install it and you will see the files you need.

When some people buy a Nanocom tuned file it has a file extention of .Tun or simlar this is locked to a partucular vin number and will not let you use it again on a spare ecu. The file needed to use on a spare ecu is a .Map which is unlocked.

So, if you have tuned file on your TD5 and you want to add to a spare ecu you must re save it first as a .MAP, but you can not because the Nanocom tells you the file is protected and can not be saved :(

This removed the nanocom protection procedure and lets you resave the files as a .map :D

Ive also added a file called MapConvertor1_01.exe to the shared folder that will let you recreate .Tun files locked to a particular vin and Nanocom ID if you so wish.

Perhaps you could copy the file(s) into your public folder and post the public link instead?

Hi All,

I hope B.A.S does not mind but thought it would be easier to add link to file here.

Tired to use the firmware 1.09 patch but couldn't get it working.

I:
Powered on the Nanocom device by attaching it to the car.
Plugged in the serial cable to a laptop
Ran the 1.09 patch firmware
Got the error "Unable to cennect to nanocom bootloader" (with that spelling ;)).

I tried pressing a button on the Nanocom and that puts in remote mode but that does not help.
The Nanocom is able to talk to the computer.

We tried a few combinations but nothing seemed to resolve the error. The Nanocom says its running firmware 1.09...

I only ticked the "firmware" button, set the COM port number and hit the download button.

Any ideas?

How can I upgrade the firmware?

To load the firmware upgrade that you can find in the restricted area of this web site:

First you have to disable the INSTRUMENT option if it is active. To disable this option you have to give power to the Nanocom keeping pressed key 1 (the first on the left) until the display shows the words "NANOCOM rev X.XX" like the normal startup. Now enter the function STARTUP SETTING of the NANOCOM SETUP menu and select the item NORMAL instead of INSTRUMENT
Now press OK and ESC until the Nanocom turns off, or cut the power supply
Connect the Nanocom to the PC through the USB or RS232 port
Turn on the Nanocom without pressing any key, the display must show the words "push a key or connect me" and the LED must be on with RED light.
Launch the application NanocomFirmwareLoaderX.XX.exe
Select the COM port number used by the Nanocom (required also for the Nanocom with USB because the USB device is seen by the applications as an emulated COM port )
Click the button "Download" and wait for the end of the process.
The firmware is correctly stored when the "Firmware download done succesfully" message box appears
Click Ok to close the application

Thanks to the Pete's calculator we made a software that converts the .TUN file to .MAP file in PC - works in oposite manner than the calculator. But at this time, I have only 1 .TUN file not mabe by my self but without the coresponding .MAP file. So I cann't easily verify the correct function.

Hi, did anyone find a solution to convert .tun to .map files on PC instead of having to read file from ECU?
