No, not some new drink aimed at schoolies...

In the last few days (since I had teh car towed actually but thats presumably unrleated) I;ve noticed (and the wife has too) the turbo whine being louder than usual. I think its the turbo - changes with engine revs and not there or noticeable at idle.

Anyway I've had a look at the hoses etc and everything is still connected.

Ideas ?

If it changes with engine revs while not under load (free revving) then it probably isn't the turbo. Could be an idler bearing perhaps.

So I take it that Rolly is home safe and sound now all fixed:)

Had the what seems to be same in the past, mine turned out to be the idler pulley bearing.
Took a lot of listening and speculating, but sure enought was the bearing, once off you could hardly turn the thing by hand.
Too many dips in the mud, dirt got in over the years and $100 odd dollars later al was good.

I suspect it's not the turbo as you say.
This was one thing I thought miight be the case,

bbut now I see your answers in this thread the idler pulley could well be the culprit. I;d appreciate if you coudl aleaborate further on how I;d go about checking / fixing.
Ideally, please psot this in the other thread as above
