Hey guys,
I'm fitting a round smiths heater to my 2A and need a valve to control the coolant flow. What was originally fitted to do this?
The heater has 1/2" hose ends poking through the firewall.
Some pics would be great.
Cheers Eric

Check out Car Builder Solutions - NF Auto. One-stop Shop for Parts, Tools and Accessories for the Car Builder. Neil and Matt Foreman. (http://carbuildersolutions.co.uk/). There'll be something in there that fits.

Any decent parts shop will have a catalogue of after market heater valves.

try Four Wheel Drives (http://fwd.com.au)
they have a pretty good catalog available for download. They may have one in there

The original stood a couple of inches high on the head, with a screw down control on top, side outlet. No remote operation.

Mine is like that but was pointing towards the firewall. It had a nasty right-angled hose attached that was impossible to remove. :(

You can also mount it at the front of the head, which is where mine is. Mine has a broad flat lever handle instead of a wheel :)

If you find out what the thread is in the head - probably 1/2" BSP - you can check out the taps in the plumbing section of a hardware store.
I found one for my S1, which is the wheel type, for $12 :)

This might help as there is no original remote operated valve.

Thanks for the replies, been a great help.
I will get a gate valve and mount it through the firewall with the hand wheel
poking into the cab.Simple enough to do I think.

XJ series Jags have a vacuum operated valve with 1/2 inch inlet and outlet if you wanted remote operation:

Hi everyone,
This thread has helped me out as well, my valve is very leaky when closed with a hot motor. My heater is the square-shaped one (pictured) but has the same valve (mine is at the front, pointing back).
