Went for a ride in a 95 classic rangie yesterday that was blown and had haltec management on it. Sadly it was disappointing. Very. It was a very nice conversion with a 4 litre in it. Blower was off a Holden V6.
Won't say much more but it needed to breath better. Performance wise. Good off the line. But that's it. My VE V6 ute flogged it and My ute weighs in at 2500kg. Mmmmmm so sad

I'm guessing that was the one at Freds?
When are you going to tell us all about your new defender?

from all I have read, the M90 is to short and can create pressure differences and can bugger the engine apparently the better one is the M112 as it is longer and gives an even pressure across the intakes?

dunno if it is true or not but I have read that in several different places now

Bit of gentlemanly discourse on Pirate about blowers and Rover motors atm (down the page, below the RRC surgery pics) here:

The fueling issue I beleive may have something to do with the standard 14CUX ecu having no extra fueling above 4800rpm.

I think you will find the main problem in the install you test drove was all to do with the engine management system.

It's very easy to set them up poorly, yet ever soo difficult to set them up well.

If a supercharged classic can't at least sorta keep up with a 2.5ton ve ute, then i'd be looking beyond the charger and the motor (assuming it's running a descent amount of boost, over 6psi).

Was it an auto or manual?

Auto. Running haltec. If it breathed better it may go harder. I'd expect it to turn the tyres. But sadly. No. Mind you. My VE is about 220kw

Yeah if I could ever witness a ZF auto turning the tyres in high range I would be impressed.

It's still a stinkin boring v6 :p

When did the VE ute start weighing 2500kg? And did they say what sort of HP it was making with the Blower? I would like to compare the difference against a turbocharged 3.9 against the blown 4.0.
Cheers

My 92 RRC with worked 4.6 haltech F9(I think) chirped its tyres at take off if I planted my foot.

My VE loaded weighs in at 2500kg. Standard 210kw. With Walkinshaw cold air and exhaust. They claim 230kw. I say 220kw to be realistic. Need to dyno it to prove it. Even stock new SIDI V6's are quick
As for ZF autos. Lol. My county with it's 3.5 Cough cough. Will get a blue haze off the front rh tyre under power. Not on LPG thou. Needs 98 octane and some aggression. Can't wait to see how it goes with twin 2" SU's
