Hi guys,

DWI sell Marumi filters, are they OK? I just want a UV filter for lense protection, and they sell a Marumi "DHG Lense Protect UV filter" for $27. I may be purchasing a Canon L series lense, so for that kind of money I don't want to diminish the image quality by putting on a crappy filter...

Cheers

I haven't used them. I would have a guess that they are not top quality though.

I don't use UV filters. If you use lens hoods and are generally careful shouldn't have to worry.

Otherwise should go for Hoya HD / Pro

Singh Ray and B+W Schneider are the best of the filters IMO. Hoya is next second choice. Marumi aren't a bad product either.

The issue is whether the filter coating will match the lens or not. In some cases this can be an issue. Also you really only want a protection filter, you don't need a UV one as the camera's sensor has a UV filter built in to it.
