I was talking to a guy l know at Lyntons, and he mentioned about the new Defender 90.
He mentioned that the usual price for a D90 is $49,990 + on roads.
At that price the dealership make around $2,800.00.
So margin is very little.
LRA have imported such a large number of Def's, that they ended up with to many on the docks.
So the price of $39,990.00 on road is pretty amazing, to clear the stock.
Lyntons have sold a huge amount since the promotion, but not a money spinner for the dealership, but mostlyhoping that the buyers buy servicing etc.
So $39,990 for the 90 & $49,990 for the 110 is a deal you cannot pass up, if you are a new buyer.
I would be a bit ticked off, if a bought a Def a few months ago, at $10K more.
After looking at one yesterday, l have got to say that the new 90 is a really nice unit!!!

Yes it would suck if you bought one before the special, guys are trying to sell second hand ones on carsales.com for over $40k, they would be hard pressed to sell them.

Funny thing with cars they rarely make you money but you maybe able to buy a new D90 now and sell it in 12 months and make a few grand.

Honestly though and I hope for NOZ's sake he gets a good one, The Puma has to be the biggest piece of crap LR have produced in a number of years. Really in this day and age there is no excuse. Rumours are the 2012-13 Defender is to be based on the D4 sub frame,4wd unit etc. I hope these rumours are true.

Honestly I did look at a 130 for a work truck but just too unreliable. I have just got back from Vic where I picked up a VW Transporter. I hope to have a better run from this.

I looked at one closely, took it for a drive but then I started reading about the issues, just stupid stuff that was a problem in the '80s not in these times. I'd resigned to living happily with my FL2, which BTW is a great car. Then I stumbled upon the turbo intercooled Perentie, it's crap but only in the city a place it doesn't belong.
