If you have it out and it is clean and empty, solder would be best. If it is still in and is weeping the special epoxy petrol tank repair stuff is quite good. Should be able to get it from auto parts shops.

Buy yourself some Red Kot. You wont beat that stuff - guarenteed for 25 yrs and you can order it from Brissie I think.
Have used it on three other landies and its the simplest means and seals all the holes / splits and prevent further rust inside as well.

I "Red-Kote'd" the tank from my 86" last weekend after I found a few leaks in the seams. Seems like really good stuff. I will refill it this weekend and see how it works.

Hi All
posting this again
use jointing cement (plastic water pipe type)
add 25% cleaning fluid to it to thin
rotate to coat
allow to dry
works
far cheaper than brand names
works better
have a tank done 20 years ago
cheers

If it's just a pinhole a temporary solution is PTFE tape wrapped round a self tapping screw. Screw it in and job done.
A mate did this to a Mk3 Cortina years ago as a temporary fix and sold it 2 years later with the screw still keeping the petrol in !

If you intend to keep the vehicle maybe one of the earlier suggestions may be more appropriate.......
