I am fitting one this week, where did you fit yours?

If you have a cargo barrier - they hang off those pretty well!

Just make sure that they won't let go and scone you in a collision.

Useless in the rear if you have a cargo barrier. It needs to be accessible from the driver's seat. I have mine secured to the base of the front passenger seat. Does not impede the passenger, nor the action of the seat moving forward or rearward, and can be reached easily.

I am with Mick S. I wouldnt have it mounted in the rear. (a second in the rear is good)

Just remember to grab it every now and then and give it a good shake.... unless you are a regular on corrugated roads;)
The last thing you want is to grab the extinguisher only to find out the contents have gone solid/settled effecting its efficiency.... :(
Personally I reckon those with the flexible hose would be best as you can keep the extinguisher upright and direct the spray to where its needed. eg. up and under a motor so you don't have to raise the bonnet or around the exhaust where grass has caught.

I would say definetely 2 extinguishers if you have a barrier.
I will have one int he front mounted on side of centre tunnel and one on the rear door next to the fold down kitchen bench.

I have mine mounted to the rear of my cargo barrier, up high and away from cargo etc.
I can see an argument for mounting it within reach of the driver in say my rally car where there is a higher risk of a crash where a crew member may be trapped, but for a normal road car this is not really an issue. If you have a big enough crash to need an extinguisher, in a standard car with no helments and lap-sash seatbelts, you are going to be stuffed anyway. I reason that a much more probable fire would be a general campsite cooking fire or an engine fire, both requiring exit from the driver's seat to access it.
The footwells of a D2 are pretty cramped as they are. The last thing you need is a passenger to step on it or bump it and set if off in the passanger area, or it to come loose itself in a crash.

Cheers,
Chris
