Hi all,
I am about to replace the windscreen on my D2 and am a bit hesitant.
When I had the screen on a previous D1 replaced by a reputable firm in Melb, they underwhelmed me. Took them nearly a week to obtain one, then it didn't appear that the fellow had changed many discos before.
Anyway, is there a preferred screen replacement mob in the north of Brissy? Or more so, anyone to avoid?

Check the D2 section on this forum firstly, as this is where this query should have been posted. Secondly, I'm pretty sure 9 out of 10 will recommend a genuine screen as the replacement as the after market part tends not to seal as well.
Not sure who to use in Brisbane though.
One other thing, make sure the plenum of you car has no cracks in it prior to having the windscreen replaced. Mine was damaged when replaced about 2 years ago. I think the company had 'Instant" in it's name, (they are on the south side). They were cheap but at the end of the day not very good.

Yes Andrew,
Did a search and nothing close came up in the D2 forums so I posted in general. I don't mind if it's moved....
I reckon I am pretty savvy, but what's a plenum when referring to windcreens?
Yep, thinking genuine also. But then where from?

The plenum is the black plastic moulding in front of the screen where the windscreen wipers are attached. Can be a expensive part to replace and tend to become brittle after being in the sun (for 7 - 10 years).
I know of another guy who had his replaced and he suggested you have to remove the entire bonnet to replace the windscreen. Sounds drastic but not sure if I miss heard him.

Hello the windscreen is not hard to do and the bonet coming off is 4 bolts. I had mine done last last year $275 fitted and they came to me . I am very happy with the job but I did take off the plenum myself so I know it coundnt /wouldnt be broken except by me. It was very easy to take off and refit.
Shop around as the bigger guys quoted me over 600 to do the same job...
Brad in perth:)

I had mine done by O'Briens. I went with them simply because it was insurance job and they were the recommended glass repairer.
They did a fantastic job! They had all the trims and glass in stock. They did have to remove the bonnet. I'm not sure what the job cost but they did a very professional job.

Same here. I had mine done at O'Briens Geebung. They kept the vehicle overnight to make sure that the sealant cured properly.

You should give NOVUS a call I own one and have replaced alot of disco screen never had one come back. If fitted right they should replace the top trim, if you get a rattle after fitting the sides arnt put on properly (this is common). The price will vary but remember cheap is not allways the best

Had mine changed last saturday by O'Briens at Underwood.....recommend them , immaculate workshop, really neat customer lounge with TV, free internet, most of the best latest magazines to read and if youre like me I went for a short walk(one minute away) to BFC and Bunnings for the 2-3 hr required changover time. They rang me a few minutes before the car was ready. Service was fantastic.
Forgot to mention free coffee and bicscuits too

My son had a Volve 240 screen done at OBs, they put the wrong screen in. As he drove it home the screen started to come out. He phoned them from home at lunch time and they said they would send somebody to him, and not to drive it. They sent a guy round at 5.30 pm on his way home, he was covered in tats with his knuckles almost dragging on the ground, and aggresively denying that there could be anything wrong with the screen, before he even got to the car. End result was the screen was refitted using a thick Holden rubber, to this day it has never been satisfactory. OBs claim that there is only one screen for all 240 s, Volvo list three.
