To me it says going uphill (and that was before looking at the tyre marks)

Its a trick question.....

the landrover is facing up hill. you are going nowhere because you are stationary holding the camera to take a very good photo of what appears to be a deefer thats hard up on its left hand side in a set of ruts and is probably hanging the sals.

Landie is coming downhill.

The Landie is facing uphill, note the wheel marks in front and who would stand in front of a Land Rover if facing down hill to take a photo...:(

By the look of the Salisbury plough marks, I say...

Uphill, got stuck on diff. Backed off, took photo.

If you got stuck on the Salisbury going downhill, there's no way you could reverse off it, uphill to there.

Going uphill ( & bloody steep too)
Hard to get a pic that shows it. I guess thats why a certain magazine takes side on shots & angles it more for effect, either that or straight trees can grow on an angle.:)

So when you were taking that first pic, you were pointing the camera pretty much straight down?

It was looking down, yes. 2nd pic is looking up.
Hard to tell, isn't it?

Pictures don't lie. That is before photoshop.
I remember in my sailing days I tried taking several shots of rough seas. In some cases it was very rough with huge seas.
The photo's never did it justice, it always looked mild.

Thats because in shots like those I believe you need to have something in the shot to give you a perspective...
So in terms of your rough seas it may of been another boat or perhaps birds between the waves.

in terms of his hill probably would of looked a lot worse if he took it at a distance with someone standing at the top of the hill or another car and taken with a narrower lens
