Not sure about the new 110s but mine has 3/16 rivets.

(1) Mike a rivet and look at a drill chart. 0.0015" clearance will do. (2) Otherwise just drill one out and poke drills through the hole until you find one that won't go through, then use the previous one.

System (1) is used by machinists and tool and die men.

System (2) is used by boilermakers and carpenters.

FWIW a Number # 11 bit is used as a clearance bit for 3/16" rivets in industry.

(and # 30 is used for 1/8" rivets, and a # 20 for 5/32" rivets)

(3) using a hammer and cold chisel slice the head off the rivet and then punch the remains of the rivet out with a two inch nail.

System (1) is used by machinists and tool and die men.

System (2) is used by boilermakers and carpenters.

System (3) is used by turkey farmers and butchers.

I would also place masking tape around the rivet, just in case you slip.:o

Thanks all for your advice.

Why? I am replacing the rear number plate with a "USA Style" plate which is available in Qld for personalised plates. This plate is 300 x 150 which allows you to get rid of the silly little bracket that Australian Defenders come with to attach the standard plate.

Sounds good, as my D'fer is black - that bracket is stone chipped to the max.

If only NSW RTA would be more flexible with plate design...

I used a #20 drill to drill out a couple of rivets that were loose on my 110,Land Rover hopefully used the same rivets in a Puma:eek:

Looks good. When you drilled out the rivets did you just reticent without the tin angle plate there anymore? Thinking of doing the same thing to my 2 week old LR. Seeing you post gives me courage. Thanks

Not sure what you mean "reticent".

I drilled out the rivets, removed the bracket and filled the holes with new rivets. I painted the new rivets with touch-up paint - as long as you don't look too closely, looks good as new. I used a 3/16 drill and rivets.

Hope this helps. :)

Beauty.

Reticent ? Not sure where it came from either!
Think it was meant to be rerivet ,but the spell checker typed something else.

Will have crack soon.
