Q for Tim - re wiring lights

I have your Traxide combo kit, recently installed and working nicely thanks.

Could you give me a compatible wiring diagram please as to how I would wire up some additional lights (as for a roof bar, for example) on a 3 way switch.

ON - with high beam.
OFF
ON - by themselves, direct from battery (i.e no key in vehicle required)

I am not Tim, but I would use a 3 position toggle switch (ON-OFF-ON) - one side, the spotlights turn on and off with the HB, the other side you turn them on. I will draw a diagram so that is clearer.

EDIT - diagram added. I am not familiar with Tim's kit, however by the sound of it you would just need to swap the standard toggle switch for an on-off-on type, and run the additional wire from the battery to the toggle switch.

In my diagram, if you flick the switch down, the spot lights will turn on and off with high beam, if you flick it up, they will be constantly on, and in the middle will be off.

Yeah I was pretty much thinking that set up but was wondering the best / easiest way to do it in combination with the existing kit I have. These lights will be additional to the spots I already have. Just a matter I think of knowing which terminals on which of the existing relays to use.

The lights will be low current draw LED's in case that makes a difference.

OK - so you have the traxide kit for Headlights + the spotlight kit? (so 2 relays?).

For the ignition off option, do you want the to turn the LEDs on with the existing spotlights, or LEDs only?

What is the current draw (or wattage if non-HID) of your existing spotlights and your LED lights? What is the current rating of the traxide relay and the capacity of the fuse fitted for the spots?

LED's only.

Not sur on the rest - IPF spotlights (non HID) probably use plenty of power.

Vlad, if you are using additional relays, the terminals are as follows;

85 = switching signal input
86 = Earth for relay coil
87 = Output to lamps or whatever you are powering up
30 = Battery positive supply (fused)

The terminals from Tims new era relays are S1 = Signal circuit 1, (Low or High Beam), S2 Signal circuit 2, (low or high beam), S earth for relay coil, B = battery positive supply, (Like terminal 30 of a 5 or 7 pin relay) L1 = output to low or high beam, L2 output to low or high beam.

Hi Vlad and exactly as isuzurover posted.

Just replace the ON/OFF switch that came with the kit, with an ON/OFF/ON switch.

In your kit was the twin in wire for connecting the switch to the relays and as long as you wired up per the instructions, BLACK wire will now go to the centre pin of the new switch.

The WHITE wire will go to one of the side pins and a permanent battery positive is wired to the pin on the other side of the switch.

Job done.

Tim the existing set up will be unchanged. Spots ion teh front bar will stay).
Im looking to wire in additional lights, LEDs, which can be switched 3 wys as noted, seperately from the other lights. (So an additional switch, not a replacement one). Make sense? In parralel I guess.

OK so slight change of plan... for the Disco now.

Will be replacing 2 x 100W spotlights with 2 x 30W LED spotlights.

Any need to upgrade the wiring at all or will standard wiring handle this?
