My twin WD 500gb Black Caviars have been running in Raid 1 for a while now after its previous Raid 0 collapse.
but the BSOD's have returned,,
I have run chkdsk /R on one but nothing turned up-- (it does say something if it repairs files??)
anything else I can try?
it is on an XP machine atm---

well,,
I ran the Data Lifeguard quick test,, which it passed,
then ran the extended test,
which it aborted after around an hour and a half,,
does this test normally just abort if there is a problem?

Are you running from Windows or boot disk? I'd run from boot disk just so other stuff doesn't get in the way.

do you still have pc check?

use the safe write bad sector test

windows does not handle write bad sectors well at all.

no to the pc check Inc,,,
but ones run a hdd check and repair test off hirens (HDATZ 4.5.3)successfully and now its going through a write=read=write=compare test,, this last one might be finished by the time I come home from work----
