Hi all,

I have been searching threads and can't seem to find what i am looking for.

I have a 5l Statesman with a rebuilt TH700 in it. I have been trying to sell it but having no luck. I have an '84 Classic Rangie with a blown motor and am toying with the idea of gutting the Stato and putting the motor and tranny in the Rangie.

The only problem is i can't seem to find anything on fitting the transfer case to the TH700 box. I am pretty handy with mechanicals (old person) and would be able to fit the motor and set up the electrics etc for it but need advice on the tranny issue.

The motor and box are very sweet and i would love to have it in the Rangie, it presently has the 5 speed manual in it!

Could you good people help me out with some advice please?

Cheers....................Pete!

The T700 doesnt have any off the shelf adapters to mount it with (From anyone ,anywhere ), . I think TEBONE has homemade an adapter to the LT230 .The Problem with a T700 is that the Pan is far too wide and its almost impossible to get the front tailshaft past it , and spacing it back further just throws in more problems and you end up with super weak adapter. A 4L80E is the Go !. For the tenth Time , Mark's adapters dont make a adapter for a T700 or a 4L60E (same box ) and never have .

Thanks for the replies guys, 400HPONGAS, you have just shattered my dream but i certainly see where you are coming from, no sense creating a monster.

So is the 4L80E adaptable to the 5.0 litre or should i just stick with the 5 speed that is already in the rangie as it appears to be in good order. I was only going with the auto if i could drop it in as a paired unit. Sorry about all the questions but i only want to do this once and do it so it is ultra reliable.

Cheers...............Pete!

400hp your wrong, well sort of, a mob called Rover Centre in Skye Victoria used to make an adapter for a T700 to a machined off LT95 transcase (i've had 2 of these), pretty good kit, pan just misses the driveshaft. Will need to mod the driveshafts for length though. Oh and taper roller would make it better as well:)

You mean one of these;

Well sought of. I think it is missing a housing part between the T700 and LT95. But has the modified output shaft and adaptor shaft. Oh and the T700 is freshly rebuilt :)

Not sure what I am going to do with it. Got it off a friendly chap from here who swapped from this T700 to a 4L80 to a manaul Isuzu MSA.

you'll still need to work the 4l60, its much much stronger than the ZF, but not bulletproof. A very good mate of mine has his own Trans building business, i've seen some of the carnage. Remember having both boxes side by side, the ZF is ****y in comparison. Supercharger sounds nice though:twisted::twisted::twisted:

Yep, my 4l60e lasted 1200 kilometers in the jag, it was 56k from new, lost second gear clutches........may of had something to do with continual flat **** upchanges with the tyres disintegrating... But still

4l60 and 4l80 are 2 different boxes, with 2 different adapters, Marks already do the 4l80 kit.

Hey Rags67,
Hows your supercharged ls1 project going? I will be interested how it turns out. It should make could torque and hp. Talking with Andrew at Hyline I think he is going that way with his comp truck. I gone down that path with the old Gen 1 block and are very happy (straight Gas setup).
In previous thread by Vern about his mate who builds trannys I used him to do mine. He is very good and Ive had no problems Approx $2500 with converter.
Regards Paul
