Need to replace mine and find out that there are aftermarket copper/bass ones as well as the OE style aluminium core/plastic tank versions.
(top tank split at full noise/load just as I crested the range here a few days ago and dumped all the coolant :o )
Any thoughts either way and brands to avoid ?

Rick,
I would go for the OE plastic / ally ones, ALL the copper Brass ones I have seen don't fit easily into the Defender heater box, 1 I had to use a die grinder/ dremel to make it fit neatly:(

Thanks JC. :D
Luckily it happened at the end of the working day and so far the head gasket has hung in there.
It only needs to survive until Christmas/New Year so I can do a precautionary change at the same time as the timing belt. (and another bloody P gasket )

sounds like you really need to change out that tdi for a nice rebuilt Isuzu T and Isuzu 6 speed, with the LT230 devorced and further back....throw in a full width rad and intercooler a RuffStuff rover front housing, sixty9 rear housing with some 9100's and youll be good to go :D
