Hi
I purchased the rave cd here on aulro for D2 Td5. Works only in acrobat reader 4 not the current readerX which I can manage with but I'd like to use in on my acer tablet pc but cannot operate reader4.
Can I convert acrobat4 to 10?? Is there some way I can use it on my tablet?
Help Thanks

There is a program called freerave. this unlocks the encryption and security allows editing of rave and allows it to open on any pdf reader and allows it to work on linux and macs as well as windows

Any idea where we can get this from? It would be much nicer to be able to open the PDF files directly from the installed reader...

A google search finds nought but free rave dance parties...

You need to work on your google-fu ;)

From googling on freerave i've found that:

The website (Landrovertec.com (http://www.landrovertec.com)) that was hosting FreeRave died at some point in 2010. The only hope is that someone who has the freerave_1.36.rar file is kind enough to make it available to those of us who missed out.

Apparently "Free Rave" is a patched version of Acrobat 4 which replaces the Acrobat folder on the Rave disc image. Once installed the "new" version of Acrobat allows the user to unlock the pdf's which removes the encryption. Once this is done you are free to open the pdf's with any application that will read them...

Guys I have the program to do it, but I cant seem to be able to upload the file folder with it's contents as an attachment.

If incisor allows me to email it to him and he is able to post it in downloads etc, without causing this site any grief then I am prepared to share it with in the forum to members.

If not then pm your email addresses and I email it to you.
cheers

Ps This is how it is done.

RAVE Free PDF Files.

1) Copy the whole content of any RAVE CD to a temp directory i.e. C:\RAVETEMP\
2) Delete the directory Acrobat4 from C:\RAVETEMP\
3) Extract the content of the file to C:\RAVETEMP\ replacing the erased directory.
4) Start Rave normally from C:\RAVETEMP\Rave.exe or C:\RAVETEMP\TData.exe
5) You'll see 2 padlock icons (if the Tool Bar does not show up press F9):
a) Padlock Blue: Available if current file has protection, allows to remove
it and save.
b) Padlock Yellow: Only available when browsing the initial file (Welcome.pdf or Rave-rc.pdf)
This action will process the whole RAVE structure. The process takes about 10 minutes
every 300 Megs, it cannot be stopped, it is cpu intensive, Acrobat's screen might not
be refreshed correctly while running. The file ProcFiles.log keeps record of the process

After the process the PDF files can be viewed with a regular Acrobat Reader even on MAC.

Hi, sorry for resurrecting a very old thread, but does anybody happen to have a copy of the freerave program? I have some original MG Rover CDs here, that I cannot open on Windows 10 anymore, and they seem to have exactly the same issue as your Landy CDs. Thanks in advance :) Igor

A post on the Full Fat RR forum indicates one can open the RAVE files with the latest Win 10 version like this:

That's not correct, you need to change the compatibility mode for the program to run.

Right click on Rave application, click on compatibility tab.
Don't bother running the compatibility trouble shooter, instead select Windows 98/windows Me and click on apply.

As soon as I get my Win 10 machine working again, I'll try it. (I'm on Linux at the moment.)
