Hi, I am looking at fitting a VDO tachometer (part number 333-156) in my Defender, I'm just wondering if anyone has one fitted or are they even useable with the 300Tdi??

Thanks...:)

There's some good info here:

I have the VDO 333-155 which looks to be the same, just with a higher rev limit. It's quite an easy job. Mount it where the clock is and jumper the 12V+ power and earth from the temp and fuel gauges (green wire I think). Run a wire from the "W" terminal on the back of the alternator. I guess just check that you do have a "W" terminal.

Thanks for the info, I do have a "W" terminal as I've got a 100amp alternator fitted so thats no problem. I'm keen to get a tacho, in particular a VDO one as they match the original gauges in my vehicle so will look in to it more seriously.

Hi Guys.
I have a 4000rpm tacho (333-156) that i had in my TD300. Worked perfectly in that car and has been sitiing on the shelf.
