Hi all,

After many years of just waving to Defender owners, I've finally bought a pal for the family D3. Over the weekend I purchased a County V8 (85 model).

Brought her home from northern tassie down to southern tassie and only juiced half a tank with a permanent smile all the way :)

She is in original knick with only a small amount of tidy up needed.
Have driven the kids and they love it better than the D3 !

Now to find a County V8 workshop manual and some LR parts specialists and the dream is now a reality.

The wifey got me a valentine's present today - a set of sunraysia wheels for wider tyres - since she said these tyres are too skinny !

cheers,
bashir

No, No ,No just stick with that lovely V8 burble not a rattly old diesel. :p
Have a V8 D3 and previously had a V8 D1 and there is nothing nicer than hitting the loud pedal (especially in a tunnel)

I surely will be keeping the V8 - at first I was looking at the diesels, but after driving the V8 and that burble put a big smile on my face, there was no turning back :D

If it's the one recently advertised, good choice, If I was buying another, that would have been top of the list..

hey deejay, yes it was the one.
other than some minor work needed, chassis and mechanically it's in pretty good nick.
had it up on the (home made) ramp on monday, and gave it a good wash underneath.
my father in law (who owns a Series III) had a look and said if you looked from under the vehicle only, you would think its only 8-10 years old. interior is the same good nick.

now to fix the odds and ends and get Tassie rego on it ...

Hi Bashir

Congratulations on finding a very nice example of that V8 powered machine.
If you see my Defender on the road, please put me out of my state of euphoria and wave back as I must put my hand down.

I live as far north of Hobart as you live south, PM me and I can pass on some local contacts and info for you regarding your new prize.

as of yesterday (been away for work overseas), my county is now road registered :D

my 5yr old son now wants to go in the "new" land rover, rather than the D3 !

cheers justin - will keep an eye out !

i was driving in Huonville along Glen Huon Rd on Wednesday and there was another County (same colour) with WA plates parked on the side of the road.
Beeped the horn and waved - looks like the triplet has been found :lol2:

:) Hi ,nice one mate , I know what you mean about the v8's . I always thought the disco 3.9 should have been an option , in the defenders as well as the diesel. I've got a 86 county, and 110 extreme ,and love them both.I'm shure you'l get a lot of pleasure. regards jimr1 :)
