g'day guys does any one know the size of the wading plugs in a tdi200 defender? and how important is it to use them? cheers:)

Keeping the clutch and timing belt assembly clean & dry is very important. Imagine if you get grunge in the timing belt. Technically the thread on the plug is 1/4 BSPT, but M14 fine thread also fits (like 9/16 & 14mm spanners).

Part number FF0 01273 ( Same for both 200/300 tdi ). See the attached picture. Probably better to buy them ( they're cheap) as they are a flanged head.

Thats interesting. I understood all the threads on those engines were metric.

Nope,the wading plugs are definitely BSP taper, although I don't think mine have a shoulder, just straight taper plugs with a square drive ?

The only ones I ever received with the car were similar to the ones you described (Africa Specification 300Tdi). I bought ones from Land Rover UK over the last 5 odd years that looked like the ones in the picture.

Does a Puma have or require wading plugs?

got some today they are the same as the one in the photo in this thread!
