Have changed fuel filter over on 2007 TDV, but am not sure if I have to bleed out the air in it before firing it up.
Does anybody have any knowledge of how to bleed the filter before restarting, or if I have to?
Fill it with fuel first??

You should have done a search previously - there is a bit on this - I did it yesterday.

The attached PDF is the official way of doing it.

The way I did it yesterday is from what Ean Austral put up - fill the fuel filter with fresh diesel before installation and then cycle the ignition (runs the lift fuel pump) a few times to prime the system - I ran the ignition for 3 cycles of 20 seconds each and the car started and ran OK.

See posts 14 and 18 on the last page http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/143001-60-000km-service-rrs-2-7-a-2.html#post1651695

Others have said you do not need to fill the fuel filter and just need to run the ignition a few more cycles to prime the system. The system bleeds itself.

Hi vbrab,
I have changed my filter twice now, first time I asked the same question. I don't fill mine with fuel I just fit the filter, usually if I fill the filter I end up dripping diesel is a strategically placed eye or something. You can hear the note of the lift pump change when the fuel has circulated enough, if it is quiet enough of course..
