Remote Wireless Tyre Monitor

After reading chris mack's post on his Defender rollover, I am going to look at buying a remote tyre monitor as it may give some warning of a tyre problem. Has anyone fitted one to their vehicle, and if so, suggestion as to who or where to purchase one from would be very helpfull.

I did a lot of reading and research on these. This is what I found...
Tyre Dog brand and some other brands were considered but I read some mixed results with people swearing by them while other having issues. The main issue with these are:
1. They are easily removed by people who want them more than you! They are also easily damaged off road. You can get a locking ring but a pain in the arse too when inflating/deflating your tyres. Also, a very short battery life on these sensors.
2. You can get some brands which mount the sensor on the inside of the tyre (mounted to the rim) but a pain in the arse when you need to rotate your tyres.

I saw a new brand (Inawise) at the 4x4 Show in Melbourne 2 years ago. The product looked good but I didn't purchase because while I like the idea, I wasn't convinced any of these on the market were any good and had drawbacks. I took a brochure and read up on it and it sounded like it overcame many of the issues I mentioned above. So, I went along to my local tyre place and asked them "Do you sell a TPMS system?" They did, think it was Sensatyre. I then showed them the Inawise brochure. They rang them and got a Rep out to talk them through it. They rang me back and said they had a look at what they were currently selling vs this new brand. They said this Inawise system was much better and it was also cheaper as well. They (Bridgestone dealer), now sell this brand instead. I bought a 6 wheel system so I could monitor my Camper Trailer. About 15K now and works a treat. Towed up to QLD & back to Melbourne at Christmas and it gives you confidence knowing what is going on. Interesting that my tyres increased 20% in pressure when driving.

It is also easy to use off road. Lower your pressure to your desired amount, then hold the reset button on the back for 3 secs. It then adjusts to the new tyre pressure settings so your alarms won't continually go off. I also have sensors fitted to the spare on my Defender and also the Camper Trailer. These are not monitored. If you need to use your spare, you simply remove the round disc from the main controller and add the spare round disc. They are all labelled with a letter for easy identification.

I am after a moniter I can move from the S.V.X. to the 90 when we want a change. I don't want to change wheels around on the two vehicles. Thanks for the imfo, will have to consult the banker.

I was shopping around looking at the different systems and found that I prefer the internal sensor systems.
However, the internal sensors which would suit the 130 Defender with its higher tyre pressures are really expensive compared to the car sensors which wont handle the higher pressures required of them.

I've been using a TyreDog system for a couple of years on vehicle and trailer. (early 6 wheel system) I could have returned and argued about sensor pressure accuracy, but two times, alarm has gone off when tyre got down to 22lbs where I had set the alarm. Not flat but plenty early enough to repair and reinflate. Saved two tyres (1 on vehicle rear and second on trailer) and no doubt lots of other angst if they had been run flat on dirt roads.

I've just ordered tyredog from ebay. My reason for this choice is the ability to use it in both vehicles. Will see if it was a good choice over the next 6 months. Thanks all for your help, Nigel if I only had the one vehicle I would definatly gone with your suggestion, thanks for your review.
