Tonight I had a call from a woman whose Freelander 1 had stalled when she braked hard without depressing the clutch and she was unable to restart it. The NRMA had looked it over but to no avail.
The woman was from North Sydney and in town for a tennis tournament in which her 12-yo was playing. She needed to get home.
So my wife took me out to have a look (I'd had a couple of reds). I checked the inertia switch but it wasn't that (the central locking was still working). I had no idea what else to do so we called NRMA for a tilt-tray. I did think of calling JustinC for advice but knew that, him being old, he'd be asleep as it was after 6pm.
The tilt-tray driver turned up and, lo and behold, he's a member of this forum (and the LROC) - Wal Rat. So we had a chat as the Freebie was being transported to the workshop where I'll have a look at it tomorrow with Autologic.
Good to put a face to the name, Wal. I'll now need to check out your Defender.
