2010-->2012 UI software update

Good Day Chaps,

I have a 2010 3.0 V6 HSE Discovery 4. I looked at the photos of the revised 2012 Discovery 4 and have noticed that it has a new look and different UI on the Touchscreen.
I've been looking for hours and cant find anything.
Is it possible to update the software to the 2012 version? It looks much better in my opinion and it seems a bit more user friendly and straightforward.

As a second non related question. In the The AULRO Discovery 3/4 & RRS FAQ Thread it states that in order to trick your vehicle into Extended Suspension mode you can put it into off road hight, jam a wood block under the Chassis and lower the vehicle.
Im tempted to try this out but im not sure about where exactly to put the wood. Is there a specific spot under the chassis which will minimise the chance of anything being damaged? Also by "jam" does it mean leaving no space between wood and chassis?

They have a different screen/system,which according to the gurus on the UK sites not up gradeable
Probably best to place the block of wood (or jack) under the jacking point, a bit shorter (say 20mm) to lower it onto,

Oh allright, thats a pitty. Would've been great if it were. I don't find the system very user friendly. But then maybe thats just me. haha :D

I have the 2011 HSE and Feel the same. It does not look like it can be done simply by updating software, however it might involve a new Hard drive/control box as all functions, controls and other car hard ware is the same (I think). I keep scanning the uk based sifts for a solution....hears hoping.

The extended height trick is more easily accomplished if you use the LR jack, rather than a piece of wood. You can't guarantee that a particular bit of wood will fit under the car when on different road surfaces.

Would be great if a Hard drive swap would do it. But I doubt they would make it that easy :D
Only way to find it if it works is if a dealer or workshop tries it out and i doubt there is much chance of that.
Thats the only thing I like about the 2012 LR4 (the software), the new Terrain Response selector and gear selector is a bit boring compared to the "older" version.

Good Point.
So I guess just wind the jack up to just below the jacking point, hold it in place so it doesn't fall over, and have someone else press the Suspension down button (or do it remotely).

I've read the long thread about the extended height so quite informed now.

The ideal solution to raising the suspension is Llams.
Just had it installed recently and highly recommend it.

The exact site for placing the object that you lower the car onto is only important to prevent damage to the underside of the car. Anything that supports the car other than its wheels has the effect.

I have recently been distacted by an interested and inquiring bystander while I hitched my trailer. I forgot to remove the jockey wheel and drove off. Within a few meters car was in extended mode, jockey wheel off the ground.... And I guessed what I'd done. No damage and I remain a happy camper.:D

I researched that. Its quite cool and would probably come in handy with lots of people but I wouldn't use it enough for it to pay out.

haha, well they sure could make that system smarter :D Awkward it did that because a land rover engineer told me that the vehicle goes into extended mode if it senses weight loss on the air suspension (which is what would happen if the vehicle bellies out) or if something obstructs the car when its lowering itself. How would you not removing the jockey wheel cause that? :D

The jockey wheel was on the ground and as I drove off on the undulating path the weight of the rear of the car and the ball weight of the trailer was transferred to the jockey wheel. The car "thought" it had bellied out and so went into extended mode. Not awkward at all. Going into extended mode saved damaging my Tregg hitch, my jockey wheel or worse.

I would not recommend this method as a routine way to achieve extended height. It must have put a strain on the hitch.
