I am purchasing a MY12 110 Puma and would prefer to keep it under cover in the garage. I am concerned however that it won't fit height wise!

My garage door height is 2090 mm. The brochure gives 2021 to 2182 mm depending on suspension and tyres. Its either going to be bloody close or not fit!

I will have standard 110 suspension with Goodyear 235/85R16 MT/R tyres and the 7 seat option giving a little more weight in the back. Anyone have a similar set up and can give me a height? Will I fit ??:(

Thanks

Mine is a 2008SVX, was a 7 seater, had 235/85x16, 2" lift on the front to compensate for the bull bar and winch, actual lift about 35mm. Stock rear springs with Polybags

Rear height was 2050mm, it fitted with about 50mm to spare.

Drive way runs up hill to the garage door and that small difference means that I cant reverse in.

Now has 285/75x16 and it is sooo sooo close, but it still fits:D

Thanks Drover. Given your specs I have 40mm to spare and also a sloping driveway. You have given me hope. Only time will tell.

Blue, do you have a measure on the height of your garage?

Hi Glenn,
I got a defender 90 MY10 and when i first purchased it i was scare to park it in any garage or shopping centre.
But if you have the stock suspension and shocks you should fit in anything at 2.05m high
i got a windcheetah roof racks on my car and it fits under 2.1m
when i get a chance i'll take some photo and post it for you.

P.S. be mindful this is driving in a level surface....it'll be different it you are entering from a slope surface

Thanks Sumo. Was looking at the windcheetah roof rack as well but I will be happy just to get the car in the garage and mount a roof rack when required.

Thanks for the images Tim. I hope to have more clearance than that. I think that is about as close as anyone wants to go!

Wow Tim! I hope you keep your driveway pebble free.. you wouldn't want to hit a small bump on the way in! :)

Another reason to keep your Defender below 2100 is you don't have a problem in most multi level carparks, they are usually 2.1m.
except Bondi Junction which I have an embarrassing memento at 2.05m

All I can say is make sure you test drive one home and physically check it (very carefully of course). The direct vertical clearance of 2090mm is fine (my garage is the same), but the slightest down angle in the driveway will mean you strike the lintel. Defenders are peculiar in that they slope up continuously to the very back edge of the roof. This makes them almost impossible to fit under anything below 2200 in car parks due to ramping.

Just do what we do, get everyone to pile in, drive in, everyone gets out. Bit of a pain but works for now.
Long term plan is to change roller door to panel lift door, which sit higher due to no drum.
