Fog light retro fitting

Hi all.
Does anyone happen to know if the wiring loom in a 4.0 is the same as the 4.6? The reason I ask is because I woulkd like to retro fit front fog lights and the switch to my '98 4.0. This would be a lot easier if the wiring is already there of course but I am not afraid to take a live from here and an earth from there if needs be.

Are there any plugs behind the blanking plates? I doubt it as, having just had a look at the STC8540 fog lamp fitting kit instructions, it looks like you need quite a bit. If you have the RAVE CD, look at the Accessory Fitting Instructions,

It can't be hard to do, it was quite common for dealers to fit fog lights to the 4.0 cars when they were new.

You also need to tell the BECM that fog lights are now fitted.
Best to do it with some equipment hooked up rather than verbally.

I'm not so sure it was that complicated & I think most of the wiring was in place already.

For instance, my car has the wiring in place for a heated screen but it wasn't part of the spec.

IU just had another look at the instructions and found this:


GB FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND USE SWITCH 'B' UNLESS
The vehicle has a fog lamp harness and a High Line BeCM already fitted to the vehicle.
To determine if the vehicle has a fog lamp harness already fitted, there will be a connector taped back to the main vehicle harness
behind the switch panel (fig 1) and two fog lamp connectors attached to the chassis behind the bumper.
To determine if the vehicle has a High Line BeCM, remove fuse cover on RHS seat plinth trim and inspect label on top of the fuse hold-er.
If there is an 'H', the BeCM is High Line (fig 2)
If both of these coditions are met, switch 'A' can be used. Untape connector (fig 1) and connect to the new switch 'A' and then follow the
instructions from boxs 69 to 85. On completion the remaining parts can be discarded. The BeCM must now be set up to accept fog
lamps, this is done with the test book in option mode for New Range Rover.

Maybe all Australian cars came with the HiLine BeCM.

some 4lt's had the low line becm here in Australia. there is a faint letter L in the bottom left of the paper label on top of the becm fuse box.
